Hey there.
Yeah you could just buy yourself a cheap of the shelp PC. Get Adobe premiere. Get a dirt cheap analog capture card. Capture all your rushes at ultra lo res. Edit your movie. When your happy just export your EDL and whack it on disc. Then start saving.
How much money have you got for post production. Cos getting your movie cut from your EDL is not gonna be cheap.

but does premier provide edit lists that I can export? the rest of what you suggest I'm familiar with, its this part that I'm not sure about. And yes I have the money to cut the film.

Hi, i shot a short film over the summer on 35mm. I then transfered it to betacam with the timecodes burned in. I'm thinking of buying an inexpnsive computer (PC) with software to edit the film. This is harder than it seems. Most people know how to set things up for video but not for having the final product be a film. So, here are my questions (the answer can be in the form of websites that might provide the clues):
1) Does Premier Adobe come with a film editing option?
2)If so, what system requirments would I need? (the bare minimum)
3) If I had access to a betacam player, is their anything I would need to know to connect it to my computer/software
4) other than final cut pro, does anybody know of any other software for the job?
The idea is to put together a cheap film editing system that will provide a final edit list. Nothing fancy.
Thanks, Santiago

Hey there.
Yes Premiere can export your EDL. Otherwise why would the function even be there.
Just go to export.
It might be better for you to rent a system or go to a place that has a system you can use.
Ive just started a film studies course at college. Its only one night a week for 3 hourse. Its costing me about 120 quid. But for that price I get the full use of all the college equiptment. They have four avid systems there that are now free for me to use. Ok I had to pay the ?120 for the course. But I can use the college equiptment 5 days a week.
Maybe you could do this to edit your movie.
Despin out.
